SLOAN, DR. -------------------------------------------------------------------- For professional services rendered by claimant in connection with and incidental to the work to be dODe and improvement to be made in the City of Gilroy, as said work and improvement are indicated and described in IIResolution Adopting Plans and Specifications", which resolution was passed and adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of said city on March 17, 1924, and is hereby referred to and made a part ~ereof, said services being those refer- red to in that certain "Resolution ]'ixing Compensation", passed by said Mayor and Common Council on March 17, 1924, ........... $30,263.S' The estimated and reasonable nrice for said work and improvement was tl64* 845.00, J and eight (8) per cent thereof, at the ra~e fixed in said Resolut- ion fixing Compensation is $37,187.60. Said work and improvement was abandoned by said Mayor and Common Council and the engineering work incidental to and by reason of said abandonment, and which claimant was prevented from performing by reason of such abandonment, with the reasonable value thereof, was and is the following, to-wit: 1. The work actually done by claimant above referred to was reasonably worth said sum of $30,263.37. In the doing of such work claimant made a complete survey of the City of Gilroy, locating all curbs, gutters, sidewalks, trees, poles, catce basins, manholes, sewer and water lines therein; made a study of the drainage of the streets and existing structures therein, and designed a storm wa.ter sewer system f or the purpose of draining the streets to be improved; made a study of the location of side- walks and curbs with a view to determina-cion of the most economical width of the streets to be paved; made a study of grades and made a grade map together with a tabulation of all the grades of streets in the city in order to determine the proper grade at which such work should be done; made a study of the work to be done in said streets and prepared plans wd specifications for such work. Said plans and specifications covered the construction of 3,000 linear feet of redwood headers, 25,000 square feet of Portland cement concrete , sidewalk, 135,000 square feet of Portland cement concrete I\i\ gutters, 25,000 linear feet of Portland cement concrete curbs, 1,800,000 s~uare feet of sub-grade, 40,000 cubic yards I' of excavation, 288,000 square feet of pavement consisting of II a 4-inch Portland cement concrete base and a 2-inch 71arrentte ii, Bi tuli thic wearing surface, 1,242,000 square feet of pavement .: consisting of a 4-inch Portland cement concrete base and a \,11 It inch Warreni te-Bituli thic wearing surface, 135,000 square " feet of pavement consisting of l-~ inch 7Jarrenite-Bi tulithic i: wearing surface laid on the existing Portland cement concrete base, 1500 linear feet of 6-inch vitrified storm sewer pipe, ~ 1,000 linear feet of 8-inch vitrified storm sewer pipe, 10,000 linear feet of ~inch vitrified storm sewer pipe, 2500 linear feet of 12-inch vitrified storm sewer pipe, 1200 feet of l5-inch vitrified storm sewer pipe, 1700 li~ear feet of 18-inch vitrified storm sewer pipe, 46 brick manholes, 63 l'ortland cement concrete catch basins, and 500 linear feet of galvanized iron culvert, all such work to be done in said city. Subsequent to the adoption of said plans and slJecifications claimant duly performed all work and services devolving upon him as sucb engineer, wod in that connection made a detailed analysis of the properties ovrned by those who pro- tested before said Layor and Common Council against the doing of said work, computing the areas of lands owned by said pro- testants and reporting thereon in detail to the said I,Iayor and Common Council, and also examined, computed and tabulated and reported on the bids received for doing said work.
