City Council Meeting Minutes

I. OPENING
A. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.
The pledge of allegiance was led by Council Member Arellano.
City Clerk Shawna Freels announced that the agenda had been posted on October 1,
2014 at 2:25 p.m.

Mayor Gage presented a proclamation naming October as Community Planning Month .

B. Planning Commission Annual Presentation to the City Council
Chairperson Fischer presented the report.
IV. REPORTS OF COUNCIL MEMBERS
Council Member Leroe -Munoz reported that the Cities Association had an opening on
the executive board for the secretary/treasurer seat.
Council Member Aulman stated that the "ride to recovery" for wounded veterans bicycle
group had spent the night in Gilroy the previous evening and she had welcomed them
on behalf of the city.
Mayor Pro Tempore Woodward reported that he had been selected as Vice Chair of the
VTA committee formed to advise the VTA Board on the proposed 2016 sales tax

measure.
MAYOR'S REPORT
Mayor Gage announced that Sister Cities had welcomed the Mayor and Vice Mayor
from Angra in the Azores, Portugal the previous week and had been promoting their
annual festival in 2015.

VIII. PUBLIC HEARINGS
A. Conceptual Design of Glen Loma Ranch Phase I Park
The staff report was presented by Public Works Director Smelser.
The public hearing was opened.
John Corditch was called to speak sharing his thoughts on the design of the park as a
resident from the neighborhood who participated in the design. He then asked if the
natural contour of the park could be retained, and asked if more swings could be
installed as well as more functional bike racks.
Armenta Jensen from RJA explained that ADA requirements prohibited the park from
following the natural contour of the land, and then spoke on the class 1 trail aligned to
the adjacent open space.
The public hearing was then closed.
