A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GILROY AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020
BUDGET BY $4,625,000 IN THE GENERAL FUND AND
APPROPRIATING THOSE FUNDS TO PROJECTS
IDENTIFIED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the City Administrator prepared and submitted to the City Council a budget
for the City of Gilroy for Fiscal Years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, and the City Council carefully
examined, considered and adopted the same on June 3, 2019; and
WHEREAS, at the November 18, 2018 regular meeting of the Gilroy City Council, the
Council directed that $7.6 million of unassigned fund balance in the General Fund shall be
appropriated and utilized for specific purposes; and
WHEREAS, at the above mentioned meeting, Council also amended the Fiscal Year
2019-2020 budget by $1.8 million for the IRS Section 115 Trust, part of the $7.6 million total
specific purposes; and
WHEREAS, at the December 2, 2019 Council Meeting, Council directed that the amount
of unassigned General Fund balance to be assigned to the Glen Loma Fire Station was to be
reduced to $1.7 million from $2.9 million; and
WHEREAS, City Staff has prepared and submitted to the City Council, in the staff report
dated January 27, 2019, a proposed amendment to said budget for Fiscal Year 2019-2020. The
purpose of such amendment is to appropriate $4.6 million of unassigned fund balance for the
proposed projects identified by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has carefully examined and considered the same and is
satisfied with said budget amendments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT appropriations for Fiscal Year 2019-20
are hereby increased in the various funds by the associated amounts described in Attachment A.
