YOUTH COMMISION MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Vice-Chair Filice.
INTRODUCTIONS

ROLL CALL & SECRETARY’S REPORT
Members Present: Baxter, Carpenter, Filice, A, Sabharwal, P. Sabharwal, Spath, and Straub
Members Absent: Bass, Miner, Navarro and Pena-Tomasetti
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Commissioner Straub motioned to approve the minutes of July 14, 2014 and Commissioner
A. Sabharwal seconded the motion.
Hearing no objections, it was so ordered.
APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
Commissioner Spath motioned to approve the agenda for September 8, 2014 and
Commissioner Straub seconded the motion.
Hearing no objections, it was so ordered.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
None.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion Re: Presentation/Partnership with Gilroy Rotary
Commissioner P. Sabharwal provided an update on the event and presented a revised
budget of $4,000. The Commission agreed to form an event planning subcommittee
when the 6 vacancies currently open on the Commission are filled.
B. Discussion Re: Run or Dye Event
Potential dates for the event were discussed. The Commission decided that May would
work best and the exact date will be finalized at the next meeting.
C. Discussion Re: Basketball Clinic
Advisor Bielecki opened the discussion with suggestions for the Basketball Clinic.
Details for this event will be finalized at a later date.

STAFF COMMENTS
Advisor Bielecki urged all Commissioners to be present at the first meeting of 2014/2015 in
order to meet the new members and start the year off right. She also advised the Commissioners
applying for another term of the date and time of the interview. The Commissioners who
attended the CLASP training were asked to provide a brief overview.
ADJOURNMENT
Vice-Chair Filice adjourned the meeting at 7:52 p.m.
FUTURE MEETING
The next regular meeting of the Youth Commission will be held on Monday, October 14, 2014 at
7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Senior Center Meeting Room.
