MINUTES OF THE REGULAR
YOUTH COMMISION MEETING
7:00 P.M.
Monday, November 10, 2014
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:11 p.m. by Recreation Coordinator/Advisor Anna Bielecki.
INTRODUCTIONS
New Commissioners appointed for year of 2015 were introduced. Vanessa, Carly, Jada, and
Andrew were present from the public.
ROLL CALL & SECRETARY’S REPORT
Members Present: Baxter, Carpenter, Filice, Garnica, Lombardo, A. Sabharwal, P. Sabharwal,
Spath, Straub, Yafai.
Members Absent: None
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Commissioner Filice motioned to approve the minutes of October 3, 2014 and
Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.
The motion carried (10-0-1, vacant position).
APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
Commissioner Baxter motioned to approve the revised agenda for November 10, 2014, with
stated change of order and Commissioner Filice seconded the motion.
The motion carried (10-0-1, vacant position).
COMMITTEE REPORTS
None.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion Re: Presentation/Partnership with Gilroy Rotary
Commissioner P. Sabharwal discussed progress made on the event. Subcommittees for
the Gilroy Youth Leadership Event will be formed at the next meeting.
B. Discussion Re: Run or Dye Event
The Commission is looking to hold this event in July.
C. Discussion Re: Basketball Clinic
This event will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the El Portal gym.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Discussion on Role of Youth Commissioners
Advisor Anna Bielecki went over duties and responsibilities associated with being
appointed as a Youth Commissioner.
B. Review of Youth Commission Bylaws
Advisor Anna Bielecki went over the Youth Commission bylaws.
C. Discussion/ Description of Youth Commissioner Officer Duties
Advisor Anna Bielecki went over officer positions and duties. Nominations and elections
will be held at the next meeting.
D. Discussion of Events for the Year
Advisor Anna Bielecki described and discussed the calendar of events for the year.
E. Discussion on Annual Youth Commission Retreat
Advisor Anna Bielecki opened discussion with possible dates and themes for the Annual
Youth Commission Retreat. The date will be finalized at a later time.
