CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Chair Filice.

ROLL CALL & SECRETARY’S REPORT
Members Present: Commissioners Carpenter, Drews, Fajardo, Garnica, Filice, Lombardo,
O’Connor, Plaza, A. Sabharwal, Yafai
Members Absent: Commissioner P. Sabharwal
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Commissioner Fajardo motioned to approve the minutes of March 14, 2016 and
Commissioner Yafai seconded the motion.
The motion carried (7-0-1, Commissioner P. Sabharwal was absent).
APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
Commissioner Fajardo motioned to approve the agenda for May 16, 2016, and
Commissioner Garnica seconded the motion.
The motion carried (7-0-1, Commissioner P. Sabharwal was absent).
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. College Application Workshop Proposal
Commissioner Lombardo would like to lay the groundwork for this event for
implementation next year. The idea is to provide workshops for high school seniors to
help them navigate the college application process. She will be providing her outline to
Commissioner Drews who will take the lead.
B. Las Animas Park Improvement Proposal
Commissioner Garnica will be providing the date and location for the City’s next creek
clean-up to the local interact clubs for possible participation in the event.
C. Youth Fashion Show
Commissioner Carpenter will be tabling this event for possible implementation next year.
D. Development of a Gilroy Community Center
This item will be tabled for further discussion next year.
E. Combining “Superhero Extravaganza” with Party in the Park Event
The Superhero Extravaganza will be held on August 12, 2015 in conjunction with the
annual Party in the Park event at San Ysidro Park. Advisor Bielecki will be providing all
necessary information to the new organizers of the event.
