02/23/2016 Bicycle Pedestrian Commission Regular Meeting Adopted 03/22/2016 MINUTES OF BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING TUESDAY, February 23, 2016 CALL TO ORDER 6:05 p.m. ROLL CALL Eldon Chappell Chair, Leonardo Gonzalez Vice-Chair, Tony Marandos, Thomas Muniz, Sean Reedy ALSO PRESENT Henry Servin, City Traffic Engineer Zinnia Navarro, Office Assistant COMMISSION SECRETARY’S REPORT ON POSTING THE AGENDA The agenda for tonight’s Bicycle Pedestrian regular meeting was posted on Friday,February 19,2016,at 3:07 p.m.in the window of the foyer close to the Council Chambers and online by Susan Johnson keeping with provisions of the California Brown Act. PRESENTATIONS TO COMMISSION – A.Sgt. Kurt Ashley introduced his replacement, Sgt. Wes Stanford. B.Our newest commissioner, Sean Reedy introduced himself to the Bicycle Pedestrian Committee; he’s an avid cyclist, runner and hiker. Highly interested in supporting the bike trails and making them safe for everyone. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Approved: Minutes were moved for approval by Commissioner Muniz; it was Second by Commissioner Gonzalez. OLD BUSINESS A.Downtown Bike Elements: Community member, Gary Walton was not present however, survey conducted downtown. B.Bylaws Update: C.First Street Paving Issues: NEW BUSINESS A.The Cannery Development: Commissioner Muniz asked if there would be CalTrans improvements with illuminated lighting and sidewalk. Due to the increase of traffic, Commissioner Muniz would like to see visible sharrows and signage. Commissioner Marandos asked if there are any plans on improving the pedestrian bridge adjoining the 40-unit townhouse community. Commissioner Gonzalez and Commissioner Marandos are concerned with traffic and asked if there is a community outreach due to the parking concern. City working with VTA on all crossings. Motion to move for approval with the recommended changes: Commissioner Muniz; it was second by Commissioner Gonzalez.
