LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING
7:00 P.M.
Wednesday, February 10, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Vice -Chair Cooper at 7:08 p.m.
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on February 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Rashmi Beman, Patricia Cooper, Sumana Reddy, Carol Smith
Commissioners Excused: Hugh Smith.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Carol Smith to approve the minutes of January 13, 2016.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Beman.
Motion passed -unanimously (4-0-1).
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Beman to approve the agenda of February 10, 2016.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Reddy.
Motion passed unanimously (4-0-1).
Newly appointed Library Commissioner Sumana Reddy was introduced to the Commissioners.

None.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan Regarding "Bike Fix -It Station"
The Commission is waiting for more information to be collected.
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Nancy gave her monthly report, which was emailed in advance of the Library Commission
meeting. See attached report.
Citv Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lani gave her monthly report. See attached report.
COMMISSION COMMENTS
Several Commissioners mentioned that they are very impressed with the number of programs
that are offered by the Library. Lani stated that it is so important to engage children at a young
age in order to prepare them for a lifetime of learning. Commissioner Reddy asked Lani if she
knew the proportion of books to media that are being checked out. Lani will get back to the
Commissioners after she gathers the exact figures.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan will remain on the next agenda.
ADJOURNMENT
Vice -Chair Cooper adjourned the meeting at 7:35p.m.
The next regular meeting of the Gilroy Library Commission will be held on Wednesday,
March 9, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street,
Gilroy, CA.
