LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING
7:00 P.M.
Wednesday, April 13, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Smith at 7:05 p.m.
SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on April 6, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Rashmi Beman, Patricia Cooper, Carol Smith, Hugh Smith,
Sumana Reddy
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Cooper to approve the minutes of March 9, 2016. Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Beman.
Motion passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Carol Smith to approve the agenda of April 13, 2016.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Beman.
Motion passed unanimously.
Chair Smith introduced himself to Commissioner Reddy, who was absent the previous meeting.
Chair Smith was absent at the February Library Commission meeting.
PRESENTATIONS
None.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan Regarding "Bike Fix -It Station"
The Commission is waiting for more information to be collected. Lam stated that the
Library is waiting for a grant to come through.
A. Library Report to City Council on June 6, 2016
Commissioner Carol Smith volunteered to give the Report.
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Nancy gave the monthly report, which was emailed in advance of the Library Commission
meeting. See attached report.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lani gave her monthly report. See attached report.
COMMISSION COMMENTS
Commissioner Reddy re -introduced herself a shared her background on her interest in libraries.
STAFF COMMENTS
None.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan will remain on the next agenda. The
Commission would also like to re -visit the occasional problem of over -flowing trash cans
outside the Gilroy Library.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:56p.m.
FUTURE MEETINGS
The next regular meeting of the Gilroy Library Commission will be held on Wednesday,
May 11, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street,
Gilroy, CA.
