LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Smith at 7:03 p.m.
SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on May 6, 2016 at 1:30 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Rashmi Beman, Patricia Cooper, Carol Smith, Hugh Smith,
Sumana Reddy
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Cooper to approve the minutes of April 13, 2016. Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Carol Smith.
Motion passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Reddy to approve the agenda of May 11, 2016. Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Beman.
Motion passed unanimously.
None.
PRESENTATIONS
Lani shared the Certificate of Appreciation that was presented to the Gilroy Library for its
outstanding contributions to Arts and Culture by the Gilroy Arts & Culture Commission on
May 10.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan Regarding "Bike Fix -It Station"
The Commission is waiting for more information to be collected. Lani stated that the
Library is waiting for a grant to come through.
A. Discussion of Over -flowing Trash Cans Outside Gilroy Library
The trash problem has improved. Lani stated that trash is picked up 4 days, but was she
never told which days. Cans are only emptied if they are at least half full.
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Nancy gave the monthly report, which was emailed in advance of the Library Commission
meeting. See attached report.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lani gave her monthly report. See attached report.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan will remain on the next agenda.

Chair Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:43p.m.

The next regular meeting of the Gilroy Library Commission will be held on Wednesday,
June 8, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street,
Gilroy, CA.
