LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING
7:00 P.M.

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Smith at 7:03 p.m.
SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on June 2, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Rashmi Beman, Patricia Cooper, Carol Smith, Hugh Smith,
Sumana Reddy
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Carol Smith to approve the minutes of May 11, 2016.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooper.
Motion passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Beman to approve the agenda of June 8, 2016. Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Cooper.
Motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Reddy introduced her mother, Usha Reddy, who ran a Library Branch, and is
visiting from Toronto, Canada.
None.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan Regarding `Bike Fix -It Station"
Lani discovered that the people who were involved with the grant at Mountain View
Library are no longer available to give advice. Lani will pursue the situation.
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
The monthly report was given by Chuck Griffin, Financial and Administrative Services
Manager for the Santa Clara County Library System. See attached report, which was emailed in
advance of the meeting.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lam gave her monthly report. See attached report. Commissioner Carol Smith presented the
PowerPoint Library report that she gave to City Council on Monday night.
COMMISSION COMMENTS
Commissioner Reddy announced that she gave out all the books that were donated. She will be
participating in a children's literacy program this weekend.
STAFF COMMENTS
Reminder was given that the Library Commission decided to cancel the meeting in July.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan will remain on the next agenda.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:45p.m.
The next regular meeting of the Gilroy Library Commission will be held on Wednesday,
August 10, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street,
Gilroy, CA. The regular meeting on July 13, 2016 has been cancelled.
