LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Smith at 7:02 p.m.
SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on November 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Rashmi Beman, Patricia Cooper, Carol Smith, Hugh Smith
Commissioners Excused: Sumana Reddy
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Cooper to approve the minutes of October 12, 2016.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Smith (Carol).
Motion passed unanimously (4-0-1).
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Smith (Carol) to approve the agenda of November 9,
2016. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Beman.
Motion passed unanimously (4-0-1).
Santa Clara County Library Children's Services Manager Jennifer Weeks was introduced. She
will be presenting the County Librarian report in place of Nancy Howe.
None.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan Regarding "Bike Fix -It Station"
This item will be discussed at a later date after more information becomes available.
NEW BUSINESS
A. 2017 Library Commission Meeting Schedule
Commissioner Cooper motioned to accept the 2017 Schedule as printed.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Smith (Carol).
See attached Meeting Schedule.
Motion passed unanimously (4-0-1).
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Jennifer Weeks gave a PowerPoint presentation on the SCCL Patron Satisfaction Survey. She
also gave the monthly report for County Librarian Nancy Howe, which was emailed to the
Commission in advance of the meeting. See attached report.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lani gave her monthly report. See attached report.
COMMISSION COMMENTS
None.
STAFF COMMENTS
The regular scheduled meeting for December 14, 2016 is dark.
Although the term is ending for Commissioners Cooper and Smith (Carol), they will remain in
office until successors are appointed in January 2017 (according to the City Charter).
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
The January agenda will include election of 2017 Library Commission officers. Discussion of
Library Commission Work Plan will also remain on the agenda.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:47 p.m.
The next regular meeting of the Gilroy Library Commission will be held on Wednesday,
January 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street,
Gilroy, CA. The regular meeting on December 14, 2016 has been cancelled.
