LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING
7:00 P.M.
Wednesday, February 8, 2017
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Smith at 7:01 p.m.
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on February 2, 2017 at 2:30 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Rashmi Beman, Michaela Gonzalez, Sumana Reddy, Hugh Smith,
Candice Whitney
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Reddy to approve the minutes of November 9, 2016.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Beman.
Motion passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Beman to approve the agenda of February 8, 2017.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Reddy.
Motion passed unanimously.
INTRODUCTIONS
Michaela Gonzalez and Candice Whitney are the two newly appointed Library Commissioners.
PRESENTATIONS
None.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan Regarding `Bike Fix -It Station"
This item will be discussed at a later date after more information becomes available.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Election of 2017 Library Commission Chair and Vice -Chair
Commissioner Whitney nominated Commissioner Smith for 2017 Chair of the
Library Commission. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Beman.
Motion passed unanimously.
Chair Smith nominated Commissioner Reddy for 2017 Vice -Chair of the Library
Commission.
Motion passed unanimously.
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Nancy gave her monthly report, which was emailed to the Commission in advance of the
meeting. See attached report.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lani gave her monthly report for both January and February (The January meeting was
cancelled). See attached report.
Commissioner Whitney stated that everything is very interesting. Commissioner Gonzalez said
she is excited to be here. She and her family visit the Library on a regular basis, and have
attended many of the programs.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan will remain on the agenda.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Smith adjourned the meeting at 8:05 p.m.
The next regular meeting of the Gilroy Library Commission will be held on Wednesday,
March 8, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street,
Gilroy, CA.
