LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Smith at 7:03 p.m.
SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on March 2, 2017 at 3:30 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Rasluni Beman, Michaela Gonzalez, Hugh Smith, Candice Whitney
Commissioners Excused: Sumana Reddy
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Beman to approve the minutes of February 8, 2017.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Whitney.
Motion passed unanimously (4-0-1).
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Beman to approve the agenda of February 8, 2017.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Whitney.
Motion passed unanimously (4-0-1).
Chair Smith introduced newly -hired Recreation Manager Adam Henig, who gave a brief
synopsis of his background. Mr. Henig has worked in the public sector for over 15 years, most
recently for the Library System in Saratoga. He has been a Library patron for many years, and
attends programs with his family.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan Regarding "Bike Fix -It Station"
This item will be discussed at a later date after more information becomes available.
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Deputy County Librarian Chris Brown presented the monthly County Librarian report, which
was emailed to the Commissioners in advance of the meeting. See attached report. Mr. Brown
shared information and pictures on the Final Conceptual Design for the Gilroy Library Plaza
Patios.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lani gave her monthly report for March. See attached report.
COMMISSION COMMENTS
None.
STAFF COMMENTS
A Payment Request has been submitted for CPLA memberships for the Library Commissioners,
and should be arriving shortly in the mail.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Discussion of the Library Commission Work Plan will remain on the agenda. The Library
Commission Annual Report to City Council is confirmed for June 19, 2017. The April Agenda
will include nomination of a Commissioner to give the report.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.
The next regular meeting of the Gilroy Library Commission will be held on Wednesday,
April 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street,
Gilroy, CA.
