LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Smith at 7:00 p.m.
SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on June 8, 2017 at 3:30 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Rashmi Beman, Michaela Gonzalez, Hugh Smith,
Commissioners Excused: Sumana Reddy, Candice Whitney
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Beman to approve the minutes of May 10, 2017. Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Gonzalez.
Motion passed unanimously (3-0-2).
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Beman to approve the agenda of June 14, 2017. Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Gonzalez.
Motion passed unanimously (3-0-2).

OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan Regarding "Bike Fix -It Station"
The bike fix -it station has arrived. Thi Ngo from the Public Health Department, Gilroy
Facilities Superintendent Walter Dunkle and Lani will meet next week to discuss plans
for the installation.
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Nancy presented the monthly County Librarian report, which was emailed to the
Commissioners in advance of the meeting. See attached report. She also stated that a full-time
Protective Services Officer has been added at the Gilroy Library to help deter behavioral issues
the Library has been experiencing. The lobby will also be re -designed.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lani gave her monthly report for June. See attached report.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Discussion of the Library Commission Work Plan will remain on the agenda.

Chair Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.
FUTURE MEETINGS
The next regular meeting of the Gilroy Library Conunission will be held on Wednesday,
August 9, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street,
Gilroy, CA. The regular meeting on July 12, 2017 has been cancelled.
