LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Smith at 7:04 p.m.
SECRETARY'S REPORT a
Commissioners Present: Rashmi Beman, Michaela Gonzat*; Sunyhila Reddy, Hugh Smith,
Candice Whitney
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Reddy to approve the minutes of June 14, 2017. Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Beman.
Motion passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Whitney to approve the agenda of June 14, 2017. Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Beman.
Motion passed unanimously.
County Librarian Nancy Howe introduced Acting Community Librarian Kelly Young, who will
give Lani Yoshimura's Report.

OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion of Library Commission Work Plan Regarding `Bike Fix -It Station"
The bike fix -it station has arrived, and will be installed soon. The Grand Opening
celebration has been tentatively set for September 26, 2017.
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Nancy presented the monthly County Librarian report, which was emailed to the
Commissioners in advance of the meeting. See attached report. She also stated that a full -rime
Protective Services Officer has been added at the Gilroy Library to help deter behavioral issues
the Library has been experiencing. Gilroy Police Department is helping with security issues
until this position is finalized. The lobby has been re -designed.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Acting Librarian Kelly Young gave the monthly report for Lani Yoshimura. See attached
report.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Discussion of the Library Commission Work Plan will remain on the agenda. Also added is
Report on Status of Garden Area Improvement.
