LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING
7:00 P.M.

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Smith at 7:02 p.m.
SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on November 2, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Rashmi Beman, Sumana Reddy, Hugh Smith, Candice Whitney
Commissioners Absent: Michaela Gonzalez
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Beman to approve the minutes of October 11, 2017.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Reddy.
Motion passed unanimously (4-0-1).
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Reddy to approve the agenda of November 8, 2017.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Whitney.
Motion passed unanimously (4-0-1).
Diane Roche, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Library District, was
introduced. She will be giving the County Librarian report for Nancy Howe.
PRESENTATIONS
None.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Report on Status of Garden Area Improvement
The design is being finalized. No specific details are available.
A. 2018 Library Commission Meeting Schedule
Motion made by Commissioner Beman to accept the proposed meeting schedule
that the Commission go dark in July and December.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Whitney
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Diane Roche, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Library District, presented the
monthly County Librarian report for Nancy Howe. See attached report.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lani gave her monthly report for the Gilroy Library. See attached report.
COMMISSION COMMENTS
Chair Smith announced that his term is ending, and this is his last meeting. He has thoroughly
enjoyed being on the Library Commission.
STAFF COMMENTS
Council will interview new Commission applicants on DGt# libel ` 11, 2017, and appoint on
January 8, 2018. d+

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Election of 2018 officers will be on the January 10' -2018 Agenda. Status of the Garden Area
Improvement will remain on the Agenda.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
The next regular meeting of the Gilroy Library Commission will be held on Wednesday,
January 10, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street,
Gilroy, CA. The regular meeting on December 13, 2017 has been cancelled.
