CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Vice -Chair Reddy at 7:02 p.m.
SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on January 4, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.

Commissioners Absent: Rashmi Beman
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Whitney to approve the minutes of November 8, 2017.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Gonzalez.
Motion passed unanimously (3-0-1).
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Whitney to approve the agenda of January 10, 2018.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Gonzalez.
Motion passed unanimously (3-0-1).

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Report on Status of Garden Area Improvement
The design is being finalized. The first estimate seemed high. The Library would like to
have the project done before summer. More details will be available at a later date.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Election of 2018 Library Commission Chair and Vice -Chair
Commissioner Whitney nominated Commissioner Reddy for Chair after she
volunteered for the position.
Motion passed unanimously (3-0-1)
Commissioner Whitney nominated Commissioner Gonzalez for Vice -Chair after
she volunteered for the position.
Motion passed unanimously (3-0-1)
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Diane Roche, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Library District gave a
PowerPoint presentation on the 2017 Year-end Service Report. The monthly County Librarian
report was emailed in advance of the meeting. See attached report.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lani gave her monthly report for the Gilroy Library. See attached report.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Status of the Garden Area Improvement will remain on the Agenda.
Chair Reddy adjourned the meeting at 7:59 p.m.

The next regular meeting of the Gilroy Library Commission will be held on Wednesday,
February 14, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street,
Gilroy, CA.
