LIBRARY COMMISSION MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Vice -Chair Gonzalez at 7:07 p.m.
SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Agenda for this meeting was posted on June 7 2018 at 1:30 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Michaela Gonzalez, Candice Whitney, Kathy Souza,
Commissioners Absent: Rashmi Beman, Sumana Reddy
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Commissioner Souza to approve the minutes of May 9, 2018. Motion was
seconded by Commissioner Gonzalez.
Motion passed (3-0-2).
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Commissioner Whitney to approve the agenda of June 13, 2018. Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Souza.
Motion passed (3-0-2).

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
None.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Report on Status of Garden Area Improvement
The conceptual design of the Garden area has been completed, and will be presented to
the Library Bond Oversight Committee for review on June 18, 2018.
County Librarian, Nancy Howe
Deputy County Librarian Chris Brown gave the monthly County Librarian report for Nancy
Howe, which was emailed in advance of the meeting. See attached report.
City Librarian, Lani Yoshimura
Lani gave her monthly report for the Gilroy Library. See attached report.
COMMISSION COMMENTS
Commissioner Whitney asked if there is any way she can help to advertise the Summer Reading
Program at Gavilan College with posters or with anything else. She has loved reading ever
since she was a child, and wants to encourage others to love to read.
STAFF COMMENTS
None.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Selection of a Library Commissioner to present the Annual Library Commission Report to
Council will be added to the August Agenda after the date has been detennined
ADJOURNMENT
Vice -Chair Gonzalez adjourned the meeting at 7:47 p.m.

August 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 W. 6th Street„
