I. CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Chair
Whitney at 7:08 p.m.
II. SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Agenda and Packet were posted on the City website on Wednesday,
September 4, 2019 at 2:30 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Michaela Gonzalez, Sumana Reddy, Kathy
Souza, Katherine Robinson, Candice
Whitney
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion was made by Commissioner Souza; seconded by Commissioner
Robinson to approve the August 14, 2019 meeting minutes. Motion carried
with a vote of 5-0-0.
IV. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion was made by Commissioner Souza; seconded by Commissioner
Reddy to approve the September 11, 2019 Agenda. Motion carried with a
vote of 5-0-0.
V. AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS
None.
VI. INTRODUCTIONS
Lupe Barron attended the meeting as a project for her Civics Class.
VII. PUBLIC COMMENT ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA
None.
VIII. OLD BUSINESS
A. Report on Library Improvements
Lani stated there will be a walk-through in the next few weeks for bids on
the new courtyard project, with Q & A from the bidders.

The Library is considering changing Quiet Study A into a Maker Space.
This would involve re-locating doors.
B. Discussion of Library Commission Goals to Support the Library
Commissioner Reddy will present the Library Commission Annual Report to
City Council on Monday, September 16, 2019.
Lani stated that the DA’s Office is talking about creating a permanent
Service Center in this area, possibly the Police Annex.
IX. LIBRARY REPORTS
A. Report from Nancy Howe, County Librarian
Diane Roche, SCCL Director of Communications and Marketing, presented
the monthly report for Nancy Howe.
B. Report from Lani Yoshimura, Gilroy Librarian
Lani gave her monthly report on the Gilroy Library.
X. COMMISSION COMMENTS
None.
XI. STAFF COMMENTS
A reminder that Commissioner Reddy will present the Library Commission
to City Council on September 16, 2019. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m.
XII. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Report on Library Improvements and Discussion of Library Commission
Goals will remain on the next agenda.
XIII. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned by Chair Whitney at 7:57 p.m.
