Dear City of Gilroy Council Members,
I am reaching out today in support of the council approving the city's permanent Quality-of-Life
Officers Program. I had the privilege of participating in the most recent Community Police Academy
and was able to learn more about the many roles our Officers within the Gilroy Police Department
hold to strengthen community ties. The needs of the Gilroy residents are complex, especially of the
unhoused population. I believe it is crucial to have Officers devoted to working collaboratively with
the unhoused residents and local non-profits to link them to needed resources. By having only
several Officers assigned to this role, they will be able to develop working and trusting relationships
with some of the most vulnerable in our community.
