From:Jason Stewart To:Public Comments Subject:EXTERNAL - Public Comment Item #14.1 Property: City-Owned 536 Acres at Hecker Pass (Including Gilroy Gardens Theme Park) Date:Monday, January 22, 2024 3:47:45 PM Hello, My name is Jason Stewart and I am a mountain biker from Redwood City. I am very excited about the thought of a lift access bike park close to home. I would like to express my support for the proposal. The mountain bike community in the Bay Area is significantly underserved. It is amazing when you consider that we have 3 major mountain bike manufacturers in our area. On the weekends, I usually drive from Redwood City to Santa Cruz to go riding. Along the way, I pass many communities that have not made me and my activity a priority, in fact most communities have pushed mountain bikers away. On that hour long drive, I see many other cars & trucks with bikes on their way to Santa Cruz. The proposal will bring a lot of people to Gilroy. Not only will the park generate income but the local economy will get a boost with the influx of riders looking to make a day or weekend out of a trip to Gilroy. I applaud the City of Gilroy for being open minded when many communities aren't. Sincerely, Jason Stewart
