Agenda Item #11.1 Amina Khemici Received 02 26 2024.pdfCAUTION: This email originated from an External Source. From:Amina Khemici To:All Council Members Subject:EXTERNAL - Cease fire resoulution Date:Sunday, February 25, 2024 7:57:30 AM Dear Madame Mayor & Council Members, I am a Gilroy educator, teaching at GUSD for more than 14 years. As an educational specialist at the high school and an advocate for our students here in Gilroy, we must listen to our parents and students in the community. I urge the Gilroy Council to pass the Community Version ceasefire resolution submitted by Councilman Zach Hilton. At the last council meeting on February 5, Gilroy residents shared how the current atrocities in Palestine and Israel are directly impacting our local Gilroy community. This ceasefire resolution is a unifying act to unite our community. What occurs internationally is affecting our local Gilroy community. As horrifically seen at Christopher HS two weeks ago, some students and residents are experiencing a rise in targeted antisemitism and Islamophobia hate, and Gilroy children and community are looking to our council members to show authentic leadership and "Stand United Against Hate" (SUAH resolution that was just passed by Gilroy council in Nov 2023). I appreciate your support, Amina Khemici ( mom, grandma, sister, daughter, Gilroy Educator/Teacher, advocate) AGENDA ITEM # 11.1 02/26/2024 REGULAR MEETING
