I wanted to express my opposition to the proposed electronic billboard facing 101 on Auto
Mall Parkway. The property owner and the billboard operator stand to profit while degrading
quality of life for the residents of Gilroy.
These types of billboards are distracting, intrusive and undermine the character of Gilroy as a
wholesome, inviting small town with a vibrant community that cares about the quality of life
of its residents and environs.
I've lived in Gilroy for the past 25 years. When I have friends in town, they invariably
comment about how great it is to come to South County, soak in the rural vibe and get away
from the trappings of the larger communities to the north. I say I still feel this way, even after
all the years we've lived here.
I strongly feel your approval of this illuminated eye sore will undermine the character of our
city and be detrimental to all but a few of our neighbors.
Please vote to reject this proposal. The residents of your city oppose its passage.
