Subject:EXTERNAL - West bound ramp from southbound 101 to Fitzgerald

The southbound ramp off 101 to west bound Fitzgerald used to be a yield that allowed traffic to judge and
merge to traffic coming west on Fitzgerald. More of less just like geting on a freeway. It's been changed to
a stop at the very end.... a very messy design that has people trying to see over their left blind spot
shoulder for traffic coming at speed down Fitzgerald. Think of that as if you put the traffic ramp signals to
get on the freeway at the very end of the merge so that traffic had to merge from a dead stop while trying
to watch the traffic over their left shoulder. If the merge was really a problem (never saw an accident
there) the I suggest you get rid of the right fork entirely and have all traffic take the left (or widened) fork
so that cars get a normal 90 degree right turn with a clear left look at traffic coming on Fitzgerald. If Gilroy
isn't the controlling party I trust you know who is and have some power to make a change happen. Cost
should be very minimal.
