Subject:EXTERNAL - NOT IN FAVOR of Abatement of Sixth Street Temporary Encampment

Dear Mayor and City Counsel Members:
With respect to abatement of an ordinance on the Sixth Street Temporary Encampment, I am
NOT in favor of relaxing this ordinance to allow homeless to camp at this area. My
understanding is that this encampment is on city property. We have the ability to enforce
existing laws which require removal of the homeless from this site. Homeless and felons have
overrun our city and have brought crime, filth, fire hazards, etc. Other cities in the county
need to contribute to solving the homeless problem which have more of a tax base than our
small city. For the safety of our community and local business owners, I respectfully request
that you do not abate current policy on encampments near sixth street or any other street in
the city.
