Please use proper judgment and cau Ɵon when opening aƩachments, clicking links, or responding to this email. As a ciƟzen of Gilroy AND a coordinaƟng commiƩee member of the California Poor People’s Campaign; A NaƟonal Call for Moral Revival I am requesƟng that you place the dismantling of Camp Hope on the agenda for the next meeƟng. I would also like to make the disƟncƟon between “homeless” and “unhoused”. Every City in our Country, including Gilroy, has a higher homeless populaƟon than acknowledged. With less affordable housing available, the numbers will conƟnue to rise. Homeless: Those who are couch-surfing or staying with friends unƟl they get a place of their own. (To include those who rent a room in without the benefit of a lease.) Unhoused: Those who don’t have an indoor space to live. Poverty and homelessness are policy issues! Are there excepƟons? Of course. But, very few. The policy makers are the ones who have to be willing to address the underlying issues while remembering that they are elected to serve ALL of their consƟtuents, to include the unhoused/homeless, and NOT just those who donate to their campaign(s). Sweeps and dismantling of camps just causes more harm to those who are already suffering. Thank you, Marianne Smith
