I've been a Gilroy residence since 1980. I am absolutely disappointed in the lack of ability from our City
Council Members and new Major regarding our homeless invasion. Take a page out of the City of Austin
Texas on how to deal with homelessness. This mess You and past Council Members have created is
unexcusable! You are enabling the homeless and they continue to infect our City. Our City is not Safe
because of your passive approach in dealing with them.
No extend time for this Encampment. Move them out, and make a clear message to get out of our
City! I Can't walk with my family anywhere without having to see and or deal with these people. Whether
it's downtown, grocery shopping, any of the City's parks, 1st Street, Monterey Road, they are everywhere.
I'm a small business owner as well. One day when I had to go to the printing spot to pickup an order. I
pulled up with my 10 year old son and on the corner was a homeless person passed out on the curb. He
looked dead! I called 911, Gilroy police showed up, and guess what they did? Absolutely nothing! They
shook the guy and he woke up, and GPD left. I came out and the homeless man was still there and
passed out again. What a joke!
I pick my son up from his bus stop at Las Animas daily, and there is always homeless people, gang
bangers, and specious activities always happening. Higher more police, round up the gang members,
move out the homeless, and make our City Safe again!
But together a beautification program, and have a hard stance on getting rid of the homeless. Not in our
City!
Again, Google what Austin Texas did to clean up their City! Use AI as a resource. Be leaders! Truly make
a difference for the people who pay taxes, want a safe place to live and raise their families!
Tired of the same old Gilroy BS.
