Tell us how a change of where the pride flag (displayed one month out of the year) helps advance the needs of our community. About 10% of our residents are LBGTQ some of you might have children, grandchildren, friends in your close circle- these folks are harassed, targeted made to feel ashamed for who they are. Why are we adding to the trauma- this is saying yes, you are our friends, neighbors, family we appreciate you (live here, add to our economy) there is room on the bus for you- just, don't be visible. Shouldn't we be looking at , well, I don't know perhaps, how do we get funds to build the housing we need (those permits sitting idle for very low-low income). One of your predecessors tried to get childcare language- to access funds- some of you were on the dais - the majority of you didn't want to explore that option. Those are just two issues that would actually be beneficial to our community. An elected has an obligation "to leave our city in better shape then when they were elected" (as stated by one of you on the dais) where the flag flies - doesn't make one iota of a difference.
