Subject:EXTERNAL - TBID Renewal - May 18 Public Comment
Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council,
On behalf of the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce, I am writing to express our support for the renewal of the Tourism
Business Improvement District administered by Visit Gilroy.
Visit Gilroy has been an important and consistent partner in promoting tourism throughout South Santa Clara County,
and their work has had a meaningful impact on the visibility and success of our region's business community. Through
targeted marketing, regional storytelling, and visitor outreach, they have helped position our area as a destination for
both day-trip and overnight visitors, directly benefiting our members and the broader local business community.
Visit Gilroy's ongoing investment in promoting hospitality, lodging, hiking, events etc has helped drive visitation, increase
awareness of what our community has to offer, and support small, family-run businesses that depend on tourism for
their sustainability.
Renewal of the Tourism Business Improvement District will ensure that this important work continues. A coordinated,
well-funded tourism effort is essential to maintaining momentum, especially in a competitive landscape where smaller
regions must work strategically to attract visitors. Visit Gilroy has demonstrated both the capability and the commitment
to effectively represent and promote our local industries.
We strongly support the continuation of the TBID and appreciate the role Visit Gilroy plays in strengthening our regional
economy and showcasing the unique assets of Santa Clara Valley.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
