Subject:EXTERNAL - Opposition To Detention Center
Dear Council,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed detention center. This follows my deep
concerns about the data center approved without meaningful community input—a process that
lacked transparency and sidelined the residents this council is meant to represent.
Approval of this detention center would signal another failure to prioritize constituent welfare. I hope
council members will consider how this decision will influence the community's trust—and our
votes—in the next election.
We do not want surveillance infrastructure in our community. We do not want our neighborhood to
become a hub for incarceration. And we note that wealthier communities like Atherton are not being
asked to shoulder these burdens—so why are we?
Residents are watching this decision closely. Please vote to reject this proposal and demonstrate that
this council represents the people who live here.
