Today, we ask you to consider our request for better health benefits and cost-of- living increases. Our members work hard to serve the Gilroy community and provide excellent customer service. They process permit requests, inspect building and encroachment permits, investigate code violations, fill potholes, pick up roadside trash, respond during floods, clean parks, process utility payments, support the construction of capital projects, repair water and sewer lines, lead summer camp, and dispatch 911 calls. Even when short-staffed, they keep departments running. Our members and their families deserve the same health insurance benefits as their managers and directors. We believe their health and their families’ health are just as important and that every City of Gilroy employee should be able to afford health care equally, regardless of the unit they work in. The rising cost of living affects everyone, from groceries to gas and rent. We are asking for a cost-of-living increase that keeps up with inflation so our members do not have to cut back on essentials. We appreciate your time and thank you for considering our request. In unity, Carol McEwan, (she/her) https://lgbt.ucsf.edu/pronounsmatter Union Representative, AFSCME Council 57 CAUTION: This email originated from an External Source.
