Subject:EXTERNAL - Agenda item 7.2 Pickle Ball Courts
Greetings.
Please move forward with the plans to build the Pickle Ball Courts noted in Agenda item 7.2. Although the
project currently comes in over budget, the prices most likely will only increase in the future. Does
anything in Construction ever get cheaper?
Pickle Ball has been the fastest growing sport in the US for the last four years. It is here to stay. We can
invest now, or later, or watch as players migrate to points North to play (Booo!). Gilroy would then miss
out on the opportunity to provide a healthy, community oriented, and fun complex for our residents.
It is a sport for all ages, all genders, all levels of skill. The average age has dropped to 34.8 years and the
25–34 group is growing fast! Hmmm, a healthy place for our young residents to gather and get
exercise, socialize, put phones down and pick paddles up? Sounds like a great idea to me!
Once again, yep, it is over budget, but it will only continue to become more expensive if delayed. Act now
and hopefully we see you out on the courts at completion!
