Audience reaction is allowed under the 1st Amendment of the Constitution as long as it does not actually disrupt the proceedings. Nor can government rule to silence folks just because it does not like or agree with the audience’s participation. There was never any actual disruption at the June 15, 2026 Council Meeting from which I believe this proposed policy stems. I request that this proposed policy be not only withdrawn from the meeting calendar, but that it be permanently dropped. Tolerance, rather than a sstep toward the fascism of suppression should be what guides our behavior. Sincerely, Mary Yates -Gilroy resident and registered voter CAUTION: This email originated from an External Source.
