RESOLUTION NO. 2026-56
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GILROY AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR FISCAL
YEAR 2026-27 TO APPROPRIATE SAFE STREETS AND
ROADS FOR ALL (SS4A) GRANT FUNDS AND REQUIRED
LOCAL MATCH FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE ROADWAY
SAFETY ACTION PLAN PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Budget for the City of Gilroy;
and
WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration administers the Safe Streets and Roads for All
(SS4A) Program to support local agencies in improving roadway safety and reducing traffic -
related fatalities and serious injuries; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy was awarded Fiscal Year 2024 SS4A Grant funding for the
development of a Comprehensive Roadway Safety Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, the grant provides reimbursement funding for eligible project costs in an amount
not to exceed $189,693.80 and requires a local match contribution of $47,423.45 from the Gas
Tax Fund (205); and
WHEREAS, the total project cost is $237,117.25, and the project was not included in the adopted
Fiscal Year 2026-27 Budget; and
WHEREAS, appropriating the grant funds and local match will allow the City to proceed with
Project No. 801180, Comprehensive Roadway Safety Action Plan; and
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, ORDERED AND FOUND by the City
Council of the City of Gilroy, as follows:
1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct.
2. The Fiscal Year 2026-27 Budget is hereby amended to appropriate $189,693.80 in SS4A
Grant Funds and $47,423.45 from Gas Tax Fund balance (205), for a total project budget
of $237,117.25 for Project No. 801180, Comprehensive Roadway Safety Action Plan.
3. The Fiscal Year 2026-27 Capital Improvement Program is hereby amended to include
Project No. 801180, Comprehensive Roadway Safety Action Plan.
