Dear Gilroy City Council,
If Amazon reneges on their agreed water usage, what recourse do we have? This wouldn’t be
unprecedented, as they have a history of using underhanded tactics. [1] I believe that the data center’s
water usage should be subject to citizen oversight.
Additionally, if the economic crash that some experts warn of [2] occurs and the data center is
abandoned, will the city (and thus taxpayers) be on the hook for cleanup? There should be a bond so that
Amazon is responsible for long-term returns.
Sincerely,
Violet Clark (A concerned citizen)
