To Mayor Bozzo and the Gilroy City Council:
Once again, I am publicly expressing my anger and disgust over your lack
of accountability and leadership.
On June 1, 2026, you passed an empty resolution opposing the proposed ICE
facility near Gilroy, then refused to join the amicus brief supporting the
lawsuit to stop it.
On July 3, 2025, city staff approved Amazon’s massive data center through
an administrative process, without a City Council vote or Planning
Commission review, leaving residents with no meaningful opportunity to
respond.
And on July 6, 2026, when asked about the ICE facility, Mayor Greg Bozzo
said, “Right now, we are just going to focus on what Gilroy already has on
its plate, trying to meet all the needs of Gilroy.” (San José Spotlight, July
6, 2026)
Your conduct is an insult to everyone who understands that the ICE
facility and the data center are Gilroy’s problems. Some of the most dire
problems the city has ever faced.
You do not get to avoid passing meaningful policies, allow massive
development to move forward without elected oversight, AND then dismiss
residents by pretending these are not “real” Gilroy issues.
To my fellow community members in South County, all I ask is that you
remember this council’s deplorable actions this November.
