Date:Saturday, September 12, 2026 5:29:12 PM Dear Council Members-Thank you for finally agendizing the issue of adopting an Urgency Interim Ordinance Imposing a Temporary Moratorium as regards the data centers. It is my greatest hope that you WILL, by unanimous vote, pass this ordinance as many in the Gilroy community have previously urged you to do. Your action will give the Planning Department time to update our ordinances with the hope that predators like Amazon will not be able to take further advantage of our community. Things that need to be addressed under "environment" should also include limits for air quality, water demands, electrical demands, and impact on the surrounding habitat, because we live in an ecosystem that we must care for if WE are to survive as well. The Santa Clara Valley has some of the richest farmland in the world and we cannot continue to pave it over! Furthermore, the fact that this zoning ordinance had not been updated for decades should alert you to the need to look at other ordinances and zoning laws that most likely need to be updated to keep up with the times and help preserve the friendly and rural quality of Gilroy. Sincerely, Mary Yates - Gilroy resident, registered voter.
