AGREEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF
YOUTH BASEBALL/SOFTBALL FACILITIES AT SOUTH VALLEY
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
WHEREAS, The City of Gilroy, a municipal corporation,
(hereinafter called IICityll and Gilroy Little League, Inc.
(hereinafter called IILittle Leaguell) entered into a Agree-
ment covering the recreational use of City-owned and School
District-owned properties and facilities based on
January 24, 1977 letter and now desire to specifically
provide for the joint construction and maintenance of a
youth baseball/softball facility at South Valley Junior
High School permitted under the jOint recreation use
agreement between the City and the Gilroy Unified School
District,
NOW THEREFORE IT IS AGREED:
A. Little League shall:
1. Provide any drainage" irrigation alterations,
infield site preparation plans and development needed in addi-
tion to the standard field specifications provided by the City.
Said specifications shall be reviewed and agreed to by desig-
nated representatives of the City and Little League.
2. Construct all aspects of site development
excluding backstop, dugout, and wing fencing. This work shall
include but not be limited to; site preparation work such as
site layout, sod removal, grading, installation of drain boxes
and pipe, irrigation changes and site development such as
installation of home plate, base pegs, pitching plate and
bases. Added facilities shall be installed by Little League
with the approval of the School District at the option of
Little League. Construction schedule conditional upon
approval by school district. All work shall be done in a
timely and safe manner so as not to interfere with school
activities or allow unsafe conditions to exist during con-
struction activities.
3. The times of said construction shall be
agreed upon by the parties and a construction time table
established between the dates of March 1, 1986 and
July 1, 1986, to avoid conflicts with the use of the
property by school district and others.
4. Provide for regular care of ballfield
facilities and litter removal during periods of approved
Little League use. Turf and irrigation care shall remain
a school district maintenance responsibility.
B. City shall;
1. Make available the athletic fields specified
for the above construction during the times specified condi-
tional upon school district approval.
2. Make available for Little League use all
of the above said facilities at such time as regular school
programs are not using said facilities and said uses are
reserved in the normal manner prescribed by the City.
3. Provide and install a backstop, dugout, and
wing fencing only and as agreed upon by the parties and will
be comparable to the secondary ballfield facilities at
Christmas Hill City Park. All other construction activities
shall be the responsibility of Little League.
4. Said facilities shall remain the said property
of the City and shall be removed by the City if necessary.
