RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
AUTWRIZING EXECUTION O!' AGREEMENT WITH COUNTY OF
BANTA CLARA FOR ESTABLISHMENT AND IMPLZXXNTATION
OF SANTA CLARA VALLEY LIBRARY SYSTEM

WHEREAS, there has bean presented to the said /Council for
execution a proposed agreement between the County of Santa Clara
and the City of Gilroy for the establishmemrt and implementation
of the Santa Clara Valley Library System in accordance with the
provisions of Article 5, Chapter 1.5 of Division TO of the California
Education Code under the name of Santa Clara Valley Library Systewi
and,
WHEREAS, the Council has examined the said proposed agree.
sent and believes it to be for the best interests of the City of
Gilroy that the City enter into the said agreements
NON, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Gilroy execute
the said agreement and that the same be signed on behalf of the
City by the Mayor.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of December, 1864, by the
following vote:

WHEREAS, the 1963 Legislature has adopted a program of
financial assistance to libraries, including Establisltmient aid
Per Capita Grants for library systems; and
WIFEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa.
Clara has heretofore expressed its willingness to join with the
City of Gilroy in establishing a library system accordinL, to
Article 3, C1iaj)L-e--- 1.') cif Division 20 o-1-- the California
Education Code, and has approved the plan of service providing
for particlj at -ion with the City of Gilroy in the formaLion of
a library systew.;

of the County of Santa Clara, S:ate of CaalifoLnnia, that the
Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of the Coun�'-y of Santa
Clara is authorized to execute a contract with the City of
Gilroy, State of California, providing for the establisiment
:an '_-a Clara Valley Library System.
