RESOLUTION NO. 523
RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GILROY TO INITIATE ON ITS OWN MOTION PRO-
CEEDINGS TO ANNEX CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY:
1. That the Common Council of the City of Gilroy, for the
reasons hereinafter mentioned, proposes to initiate on its own motion,
as soon as it can legally do so, proceedings to annex to the City of
Gilroy all of the territory hereinafter described, as uninhabited
territory, under provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory
Act of 1939 as set forth in sections 35300 to 35325, inclusive, of the
Government Code of the State of California.
2. That the Common Council's reasons for proposing to initiate
said annexation proceedings are aa follows: The said territory is
owned solely by the said City of Gilroy, and is used for municipal
purposes, and by the annexation of the said territory to the city of
Gilroy the said City will thereafter be under no obligation to pay
taxes on said territory to the County of Santa Clara, and said taxes
which are considerable will thus be avoided.
3. That the territory which the Council proposes to annex is
hereby identified as "GILROY SEWER FARM ABImX'A"EOIl'~.MOJ1" and consists
of all that real property situate in the county of Santa Clara, State
of California, described as follows:
BEING a po>>tion of Las Animas Ranch Lot 51 as shown on
Map No. 7 accompanying the final report of the Referees in
the Las Animas Rancho Partition Suit, Action No. 5536, had
in the Superior Court of the State qf California, in and
for the County of Santa Clara, and being more particularly
described as follows:
BEGINNING at the most westerly corner of Ranch Lot 51
as shown on said Map, and runnins thence along the
southwesterly line thereof S. 32 15' E. 2207.04
feet to the most southerly corner thereof: thence
along the southeasterly line thereof N. 540 45' E.
2065.80 feet to the corner common to Ranch Lots
51 and 53 in the southwesterly line of Ranch Lot 52:
thence along the southwesterly line of Ranch Lot
52 N. 350 15' W. 316.80 feet to the most westerly
corner thereof: thence across Ranch Lot 51 N. 35~ 15' W.
1781.67 feet to a point on the northwesterly line thereof:
thence along said northwesterly line S. 570 47' W.
1950.36 feet to the point of beginning, and CONTAINING THEREIN
99.17 acres.

4. That the City Clerk of the City of Gilroy is hereby
directed to file with the Boundary Commission of the County of
Santa Clara, state of California, this proposal to initiate pro-
ceedings to annex the hereinabove described uninhabited territory
to the City of Gilroy, and to request a report by the Commission
as provided for in Section 35002 of the Government Code.
