RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GILROY TO INITIATE ON ITS OWN MOTION PRO-
CEEDINGS TO ANNEX CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY:
10 That the Common Council of the City of Gilroy, for the
reasons hereinafter mentioned, proposes to initiate on its own motion1
as soon as it can legally do so, proceedings to annex to the City of
Gilroy all of the territory hereinafter described, as uninhabited
territorYi under provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory
Act of 1939 as set forth in Sections 35300 to 35325, inclusive; of the
Government Code of the State of Californiao
20 That the Common Councills reasons for proposing to initiate
said annexation proceedings are as follows: The said territory is
owned solely by the said City of GilroYl and is used for municipal
purposes1 and by the annexation of the said territory to the City of
Gilroy the said City will thereafter be under no obligation to pay
taxes on said territory to the County of Santa Clara, and said taxes
which are considerabE will thus be avoidedo
30 That the territory which the Council proposes to annex is
hereby identified as "GILROY SEWER FARM ANNEXATION NOo 2" and consists
of all that real property situate in the County of Santa Clara1 State
of California, described as follows:
BEING a portion of Las Animas Ranch Lot 51 as shown on Map Noo 7
accompanying the final report of the Referees in the Las Animas
Rancho Partition Suit, Action Noo 5536, had in the Superior
Court of the State of California in and for the County of Santa
Clara, to wit:
BEGINNING at a point on the Northwesterly line of said Ranch
Lot 51 as shown on said Map distant thereon No 570 471 Eo 1950036
feet from the Most westerly corner of said Ranch Lot 51 and
running thence N. 570 471 East along said line of said Lot 2313024
feet to the most Northerly corner thereofi thence along the North-
easterly line of said lot So 350 15t Eo 1659024 feet to the most
Easterly corner of said loti thence So 540 451 Wo 2310 feet along
-the Southeasterly line of said lot 51i thence No 350 151 Wo 1781.67
feet to the point of beginning.
40 That the City Clerk of the City of Gilroy is hereby directed
to file with the Boundary Commission of the County of Santa Clara,

state of Califarniaq this proposal to initiate proceedings to annex
the hereinabove described uninhabited territory to the City of
Gilroy; and to request a report by the Commission as provided for
in Section 35002 of the Government Codeo
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of November, 19591 by the
