RESOLUTION NO. 1307
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY ENDORSING THE SCHOOL
TAX ELECTION.
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Gilroy Unified School District
Board of Trustees to seek authorization of the electorate to increase their
maximum general purpose tax rate, and
WHEREAS, it is a fact that the school district has the lowest oper-
ating tax rate of any unified school district in Santa Clara County, and
WHEREAS, we realize that the school district has been faced with
increasing inflationary costs each, year, and
WHEREAS, we appreciate that the caliber and quality of the educa-
tional program have a direct bearing upon the growth and prosperity of our
community, and,
WHEREAS, we are cognizant of the fact that good schools represent
a vital investment, essential to the business and industrial progress of
our area,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council of the City
of Gilroy endorses this measure to be put before the electorate on February
25, 1969 and urges full support by all of our citizens in order that the
schools can provide a program that will be of benefit to the entire com-
munity.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of January, 1969, by the following
vote:
