Present:Councilmen Carl W.Pate,Charles Ga110,J.Hughes Kennedy, Courtland M.Rush,Kenneth L.Petersen,SegUndo Sanchez. The Mayor states that this is the time specified in a legal notice calling a hearing on the matter of the annexation of Las Animas Estates to the City of Gilroy. The Clerk now reads the recommendation of the City Planning Commission of the City of Gilroy which recommends the annexation of Las Animas Estate s to the City of Gilroy. The Mayor now asks if there is anyone present who desire s to spe ak against the proposed annexation. No person appears to speak against the proposed annexation. This being the time specified in notices mailed to dealers for the opening of bids for two dump trucks four bids are presented and read. Ventre Tractor and Equipment ~ompany-2-2 ton dump trucks as per specifications for $6,413.76 cash and 1-1944 Model Chevrolet dump truckk and 1:-1939 Ford dump truck;Culwell Chevrolet Company-2-2 ton dump trucks as per specifications for $6,185.80 caSh and 1-1944 model Chevrolet dump truck and 1-1939 Ford dump truck;G.N.Brodersen & Son- 2-2 ton dump trucks as per specifications for $5,915.68 and 1-1944 model Chev~olet dump truck and 1-1939 Ford dump truck;Bob Hollar Company-2-2 ton dump trucks as per specifications for $6,428.30 and 1662 1-1944 model Chevrolet dump truck and 1-1939 model Ford dujp truck. Motion by Councilman Pate,seconded by Councilman Rush and carried that the bid of G~N.Brodersen & Son of $5,915.68 for two 1956 GMC two ton dump trucks,accepting as trade-in 1-1944 model Chevrolet , dump truck and 1-1939 model Ford dump truck,to be delivered on or before November 17~1955,be accepted as the lowest and best bid, the selection of either Gar Wood or Heil dump bodies 'to be decided by the dealer. The City Attomey now presents and reads RESOLUTION NO.363. ] Motion by Councilman Kennedy,seconded by Councilman Petersen that RESOLUTION NO.363 be adopted: RESOLUTION HQ.ill BE IT RESOLVED: That a special census of the City of Gilroy be taken as soon as possible under Federal supervision,that. an aPP1.ication to have said census taken be made to the proper authorit.y and/ or authorities,and that the Mayor of the City of Gilroy be,and he is hereby des~ated as the official of the City of Gilroy authorized to sign the formal agreement for the census, and that a request for the taking of the census be made by the City Clerk of the City of Gilroy on behalf of said City of Gilroy,to t.he U.S.Department of Commerce,Bureau of Census,Washington,D.C. It is unanimously agreed that the matter of adding one-half cent to the present city Sales and Use Tax be discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Council on November 7,1955;that the Finance Committee prepare and present recommendations for spending the additional one-half cent Sales and Use Tax money and that the City Attorney prepare an amendment to the present Sales and Use Tax Ordinance providing for an additional ene -half cent. j The Mayor discusses the matter of better coordination between city department.s providing for a chain of conmand between the departments and employees;that he had discussed the matter with Blildipg Inspector Byron Brown and he had agreed to accept the the job of coordinating the departments in the field. It is unanimously agreed that the Council sit as a committee l 1663 on Mond~,October 31st,1955 at 7t30 P.M. to discuss this matter among themselves and at 8:00 o.cl~ck P.M. the heads of the city departments be requested to attend the Council,sitting as a committee,meeting to discuss the recommendatioDS ,agreeddupon at the 1:30 P.M.meeting of October 31,1955.
