Haglund CITY ADMINISTRATOR Subject: Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Gilroy Unified School District ( "GUSD ") and the City of Gilroy ( "City") for Funding of a School Resource Officer ( "SRO ") assigned to GUSD. Purpose: GUSD and the City desire to place an SRO in service to the GUSD. The City and GUSD have agreed that each entity will provide 50% of the funding necessary to pay the full cost of the SRO position. Terms of MOU: 1. The GUSD will cost share the SRO position and will provide 50% of the cost of the SRO position as calculated by the City, including salary, SRO related overtime and related benefits. The City will provide funding for the remainder 50% cost of the SRO position. The cost will be based upon the actual salary and benefits of the SRO assigned to GUSD. The full annual salary of the SRO is $171,241.37, excluding SRO overtime. The current SRO's salary and benefits are fully detailed in "Attachment A ". GUSD's portion is estimated to be $85,620.69, not including SRO related overtime. The annual cost of the SRO will be updated and apportioned each fiscal year, and effective July 1. 2. This MOU will automatically renew each fiscal year unless either GUSD or City provides notice of termination of the MOU at least 60 days prior to the start of a fiscal year. 3. The City and its Police Department will supply all necessary equipment for the SRO. 4. The SRO will be assigned to SRO duties with GUSD for the school year (9 months) and in off months will be assigned to regular patrol duties as determined by the Police Department. The SRO position will at all times during the term of this MOU remain under the direct command of the Gilroy Police Department.
