HomeMy WebLinkAboutBengal Engineering - Bridge Preventive Maintenance Program Amendment No. 14, AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES BETWEEN CITY OF GILROY AND BENGAL ENGINEERING FOR HIGHWAY BRIDGE PROGRAM (HBP) DATED 02/22/2016 AMENDMENT NO. 1 - PO NO. 161044 This Amendment shall become effective when it has been signed by the City Administrator, Project Manager, and Consultant. All copies forwarded to Consultant for signature shall be returned to the City of Gilroy properly filled out. Upon acceptance by the City, the Consultant's copy will be returned to him as his authority to proceed with the work. Amend existing contract for Bengal Engineering Inc. for the amount of $19,982 for a total project cost not to exceed $54,639. This amendment will cover extra services that include project administration, obtain Caltrans permitting, provide consultation during construction, and produce 100% final plans and specifications. This work was necessary to complete the design /permitting phase of the project and was above the original scope of work. This Amendment extends the term of the Agreement for Services between the City of Gilroy and Bengal Engineering dated February 21, 2018 to February 29, 2020. All requirements of the original Agreement Documents shall apply to the above work except as specifically modified by this Amendment. The contract time shall not extend unless expressly provided for in this Amendment. Bengal Engineering hereby agrees to perform the above work subject to the terms of this Amendment for additional services as described above. Background In April of 2006 the State of California announced the creation of the Local Assistance Bridge Preventative Maintenance Program (BPMP). The purpose of this BPMP is to extend the life of each bridge by performing certain qualifying items of work, classified as "preventative maintenance ", to keep these bridges in structurally good condition, while conserving limited funds for other bridges which have degraded to the point where they require major rehabilitation or replacement. Status In winter of 2017, Bengal Engineering completed all the technical studies with the culmination of a NEPA Categorical Exemption in July of 2017 and recently the CEQA Categorical Exemption in September of 2017. Bengal Engineering was requested to provide additional services to support environmental documentation /determination that was unanticipated during the initiation of the scope of services. We are requesting a budget augmentation to accommodate: • Our additional project administration • Budget to assist City staff with required Caltrans Local Assistance Procedures Manual paperwork for Right -of -Way clearance and construction authorization. • Compilation of the construction contract documents. Task 3 - Construction Contract Documents Finalize the Contract Documents for the City to bid the project in 2018. In order to accommodate additional services described above, we are requesting you to allocate an additional budget of $19,982 for the project. We propose to work on a Time - and- Material basis.
