PUBLIC NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Gilroy, on Monday, January 10,
2022, will introduce an ordinance and will consider the adoption of the proposed ordinance on
Monday, January 24, 2022, the title of which is:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
CONSOLIDATING THE BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN COMMISSION AND PLACING ITS
ASSOCIATED COMMISSION FUNCTIONS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING AND
DEVELOPMENT REVIEW UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE PLANNING
COMMISSION, AND THE ASSOCIATED COMMISSION FUNCTIONS FOR
EDUCATION AND ENCOURAGEMENT ACTIVITIES UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF
THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE:
This ordinance, if approved, would consolidate the duties of the current Bicycle
Pedestrian Commission (BPC) with two other commissions. The ordinance would place
the BPC functions for infrastructure planning and development review under the authority
of the Planning Commission, and the education and encouragement functions under the
Parks and Recreation Commission. The duties would continue under these other
commissions, and the transition would occur within six months of adoption.
