NOTICE OF ELECTION AND CANDIDATE NOMINATION
PERIOD

Published in the Gilroy Dispatch on Friday, May 20, 2022 and July 8, 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a General Municipal Election will be held in the City of Gilroy on
Tuesday, November 8, 2022, for the following Officers:
For three (3) Members of the City Council - Full term of four (4) years
The nomination period for these Offices begins on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 8:30 a.m.
and closes on Friday, August 12, 2022, at 5 p.m., sharp, in the Office of the Gilroy City
Clerk/Elections Official.
If nomination papers for an eligible incumbent officer of the City of Gilroy are not filed by
Friday, August 12, 2022, at 5 p.m., sharp (the 88th day before the election), the voters
shall have until the 83rd day before the election, Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 5 p.m.,
sharp, to nominate candidates other than the person(s) who are the eligible incumbents
on the 88th day before the election, for that incumbent's elective office. This extension is
not applicable where there is no incumbent eligible to be elected.
If no one or only one (1) person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the
elective office may be made as prescribed by §10229, Elections Code of the State of
California.
The vote centers will be open between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
