Honorable Mayor Bozzo and Council members,
Gilroy residents from every corner of our community deserve to have fair representation on our council and within our
leadership structures, nor only as a matter of State and Constitutional law, but also because it is integral to the fabric of
our democracy.
Having analyzed decades of city council members profiles and those of board/ commission appointments, it is clear that
there is much work to be done to ensure all of our residents are equitably represented.
The first step you all can take towards this end is by starting the process to hold Gilroy City Council elections by District.
To elect to do otherwise will trigger litigation, which the City has an extremely high probability of losing, and will unduly
cost us lots of money, regardless of the outcome.
I encourage you to honor the request of the community, and their right to a representative.
