Commissions, task forces, councils and other agencies of the City exist to conduct the people's business. This ordinance assures that deliberations are conducted before the people and that City operations are open to the people's review. Persons wishing to address the Commission are requested, but not required, to complete a Speaker’s Card located at the entrances. Completion of this speaker’s card is voluntary. All persons may attend this meeting and speak, regardless if a card is completed or not. Speaker’s slips should be submitted to the Secretary BEFORE this portion of the meeting begins. Anyone wishing to address the Commission on any other item on this AGENDA is requested, but not required, to fill out a speaker’s slip as well and submit it to the Secretary BEFORE the Commission takes action on the item. CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Chair Whitney at 7:07 p.m. II. SECRETARY'S REPORT The Agenda and Packet were posted on the City website on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 3:05 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Michaela Gonzalez, Sumana Reddy, Kathy Souza, Katherine Robinson (7:35 p.m.), Candice Whitney III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion was made by Commissioner Souza; seconded by Commissioner Reddy to approve the May 8, 2019 meeting minutes. Motion carried with a vote of 4-0-1. IV. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion was made by Commissioner Souza; seconded by Commissioner Reddy to approve the June 12, 2019 agenda. Motion carried with a vote of 4-0-1. V. AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS None. VI. INTRODUCTIONS None. VII. PUBLIC COMMENT ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA None. VIII. OLD BUSINESS A. Report of Library Improvements The lobby has been re-designed for the Lunch at the Library Program. Courtyard plans permit has been approved by the City. Discussion of Library Commission Goals to Support the Library Lani plans to set up a meeting with GUSD Principals and School Board after school begins in the fall. Deputy County Librarian Chris Brown stated that the Commission could help with the Library Customer Satisfaction Survey. IX. NEW BUSINESS A. Library Report to City Council on September 16, 2019 Commissioner Reddy volunteered to present the report to City Council. Commissioner Gonzalez motioned; seconded by Commissioner Souza for approval of Commissioner Reddy to give the report. Motion carried with a vote of 4-0-1. X. LIBRARY REPORTS A. Report from Nancy Howe, County Librarian Deputy County Librarian Chris Brown presented the report for Nancy Howe. B. Report from Lani Yoshimura, Gilroy Librarian Lani gave her monthly report on the Gilroy Library. XI. COMMISSION COMMENTS None. XII. STAFF COMMENTS None. XIII. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Review of the Santa Clara County Library District Behavior Policy will be on the agenda for August 14, 2019. XIV. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned by Chair Whitney at 8:04 p.m. FUTURE MEETINGS The next regular meeting of the Library Commission will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilroy Library Meeting Room, 350 West Sixth Street, Gilroy, CA.
